My new health and fitness regime!

My New Heath and Fitness Regime!
Last night for the first time in 6 months, I stepped onto the dreaded scales. I'm been avoiding the scales for the past six months, since I quit going to the gym. I gave up going to the gym because I wasn't losing any weight. I now realise that going to the gym was stopping me from putting on weight.
Anyway, I noticed that my work uniforms were getting too tight so I bit the bullet and weighed myself. Much to my dismay, I have put on 4 kilos over the last six months. So today I started dieting and exercising.
I had a cafe latte protein shake for breakfast.
We decided to drive to Bathurst today so that my learner driver son could get some practise driving on the highway and add to his hours in his log book. He has clocked up 10 hours of lessons now, but still has 110 hours to go! Learner driver training is very strict in New South Wales and it takes 4 years to become a fully licensed driver. Anyway, as we were in Bathurst we had lunch out and I had a turkey, salad and cranberry wrap with a diet Coke. Tonight we're having stir fry chicken with rice. Then I'm off to do my long night shift at the hospital.
For exercise I'm doing 30 minutes cardio per day plus weights every second day. I have exercise equipment at home which I've dusted off and intend to use daily! Today I did 10 minutes on the exercise bike which nearly killed me. It's amazing how quickly one can lose fitness. I used to be able to stay on the bike for 60 minutes not so long ago. This is what happens when you stop exercising. After the bike I did 10 minutes on the cross trainer, 5 minutes on the rower and 5 minutes of ab exercises. I felt exhausted after all that.
The hardest part for me is drinking enough water. I've never been a water drinker and I have to force myself to drink enough of it. I've had 4 glasses so far, and 4 more to go today. I'm determined to do this, I turned 54 in December and I don't want to be fat and 55 next December. I have been spending all my spare time on the computer instead of exercising, so I'm going to do my exercises everyday before I check my emails or do anything else on the computer.
Anyway I survived my first day, many more to go!

My Stuffed Teddy Bear - Dufus

Dufus - My Much-Loved Teddy Bear
My favourite stuffed teddy bear is Dufus. My husband bought Dufus for a couple of years ago. We were visiting our oldest son in Canberra and went shopping when I found the Teddy Bear Shop. Walking past wasn't an option. I love the Teddy Bear Shop!
Needless to say, I spent a lot of time checking out all of the teddy bears and fell in love instantly with Dufus. So my husband bought him for me and he has been at my side every since.
Last July, we went on a South Pacific cruise to Vanuatu, Mystery Island, Noumea and Lifou. We were suppose to go to Ouvea and Isle of Pines. Ouvea and the Isle of Pines have the most beautiful beaches in the world! The sand is like white talcum powder and the water is crystal blue.
Anyway the ship we were travelling on was the P&O ship Pacific Dawn, which was embroiled in a Swine Flu epidemic scare on a previous cruise. The Chief of the Isle of Pines banned us from visiting, even though no-one on the ship was sick. Ouvea was also off the visiting list because of tribal wars on the island, so it was a great disappointment not to visit there. We had a great cruise anyway despite all the problems. Just before we left there was an earthquake in the region. While we were on the cruise there was another earthquake in New Zealand which sparked a sunami warning for the South Pacific!
Despite all these dramas, the cruise went ahead and we had a great time and so did Dufus because I took him along with me, much to the amusement of my family!
He sat in the window and had a great view of the South Pacific. On the morning that we arrived back in Sydney, I had Dufus with his head sticking out of my travel bag much to the delight of a little girl seated near us who could not stop laughing, it was quite contagious!

Dufus is a Minkplush teddy bear designed in Australia. He is very soft and cuddly and now has a baby brother called Harley. Harley is a smaller version of Dufus that my daughter spotted in the Party Shop here in Orange. Like me, she couldn't bear to walk out of the shop and leave him there, so she bought him for me.
Next time I holiday, I'll be taking both of these teddy bears with me!
